Being a member of the HR Science Team was an unparalleled research experience. As most teams worked with external clients, I had the opportunity to build professional client relationships and gain specific industry knowledge. The welcoming team atmosphere can give you opportunities to lead trainings, facilitate meetings, and hone your data analytics/research skills. I highly recommend this team to any undergraduate or graduate student looking for professional research experience. A huge factor in getting the position I have now is largely due to the experience acquired in HR Science. Once you become a member, you'll always be a part of the HR Science Team family!

The HR Science Research team is more than just your average group of student researchers. The team is incredibly passionate about data analytics, HR, and problem solving like no other. Being a part of this team has taught me more than I could’ve imagined -- from how to use SAS, to how to write a research proposal for a conference, and even how to craft the perfect resume and LinkedIn page. My time at Appalachian State wouldn’t have been the same without the HR Science team, it was such a valuable experience that is sure to help with my continued education and future career.

I am extremely thankful for my time as a member of the HR Science Research Team. The knowledge and skills gained from my professors, mentors and peers prepared me to excel in the workforce and molded me into the professional I am today. As a Research Associate, I worked with data pertaining to HR practices and procedures, such as recruiting and hiring, among others, which made me extremely eager to work within the Human Resources Field. My time on the team truly helped me attain a job that I love, working for a company I am proud of...almost as proud as I am to be an Appalachian State HR Science Team Alum!

My role as the Assistant Director of the HR Science Research team was easily one of the most formative experiences of my graduate career. It improved not only my skills in statistical analysis but also provided me with hands-on leadership experience. Looking back I feel lucky to have been a part of this group, and I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to join!

Throughout my two years on the HR Science team, I focused on examining the role that social media plays throughout the candidate screening and hiring process. My experience on the HR Science team allowed me to implement my knowledge of recruiting, hiring, and training into bettering my organization's Human Resources department. The HR Science team gave me the knowledge and tools I needed in order to successfully step into an HR role, and I am forever grateful for that experience!

As a student, this research team became something I could look forward to in the week, not only because of the community of people with similar interests but also because of the way Dr. Bergman and each individual member challenged me to think academically. Streamlining one specific issue in social media while being exposed to various other views made for a highly engaging and beneficial environment. Each week was a new learning experience in a place that keeps the professional attitude of a research team while maintaining an atmosphere of a circle of friends.

Working on the HR Science team was a blast and helped me advance my knowledge of research design. My time on the team also kickstarted a project that turned into a publication, making me a more competitive applicant for doctoral programs. I am sincerely grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the team and to work with such a great group of people!

My time on the HR Science Team was my first real exposure to the application of evidence-based research as it relates to the workplace. It served as a launching point for my transition into a graduate program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, introduced me to an amazing and intelligent group of my peers, and offered me a life-long mentor in Dr. Bergman. I'm forever appreciative of my experience with this unique community.
