Comps & COMPanions!

The Oral Comprehensive Exam (OCE) is an hour-long exam that tests the depth and breadth of second year students' knowledge, based on the coursework they have taken. Second year students must have a successful comp outcome by the thesis defense date for May degree conferral.

Recent classes of IOHRM students have created a new way of supporting our stressed second year students during this period: COMPanions!

Before this year's exams - which kicked off on Monday, March 19th - first year students were paired up with second year students to offer them support (social & emotional support, caffeine support, candy support) for this exam period. Second year students can rely on their COMPanion before or after their test for support, treats, or something like going for lunch or drinks after they finish their exam. This COMPanion program has been a wonderful way for first year students to shower the second years with affection and celebration, as well as start thinking about their own Comprehensive Exams next year!

Good luck to our second year students - you're almost there!
