Second Year Students Present at RCIO Conference

On Saturday, October 22nd, several IOHRM students were able to attend the River City Industrial Organizational Psychology Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Second-year IOHRM graduate students Casher Belinda, Kate Lesniak, and Bridget Wasowski, as well as Dr. Shawn Bergman, delivered a presentation at one of the sessions. The objective of the presentation was to provide an overview of the Charismatic, Ideological, and Pragmatic Leadership models, and utilize them to illustrate how individuals may self-diagnosis their personal leadership style.  The three leadership types have been found to differ in terms of how leaders make sense of their environments, and therefore can be useful for providing information about the leadership style an individual is using and why.

Casher, Kate, and Bridget are all currently leading projects at Appalachian State University.  All three of them briefly described the project they are working on, self-diagnosed their leadership style, and offered suggestions for ways they can improve.  They concluded the presentations by discussing what they have learned through the leadership positions and providing the audience with such guidance.

The IOHRM program is excited these second-year students had the opportunity to present and represent the IOHRM program at the River City Industrial Organizational Psychology Conference!
