New to IOHRM this year is the IOHRM Ambassador position. This position is designed to give two second-year IOHRM students the opportunity to serve as the voice of IOHRM students in formal discussions with faculty, facilitate the new IOHRM Buddy System, organize student social gatherings, schedule IOHRM students to attend recruitment events, and ensure that various Management and Psychology departmental events have IOHRM student representation.
Second-year students, Erin Marion and Soundarya Kanthimathanathan, were selected by their peers and faculty to serve as the first IOHRM Ambassadors. Erin states, “The Ambassador position adds value to the program by maintaining the discussion of ‘How can we improve?’ I’ve been excited to have these discussions with my peers and brainstorm ways of how we can make the IOHRM program even stronger.” For example, the IOHRM program now has a buddy system to help acclimate first-year students to the program by pairing them with a second-year student. Soundarya has enjoyed the position as an opportunity to give back to the program as well, stating, “Being an IOHRM Ambassador has been a great way for me to represent and endorse the IOHRM program. I’ve reached out and received professional development advice countless times in my time as an IOHRM student. In this role, I [have gotten] a chance to give back a sliver of my own time and support.”
We look forward to seeing the value that the IOHRM Ambassador position continues to add to the program in the future.
