SHRM Prepares AppKIDS Superhero 5K

We would like to celebrate the hard work SHRM members Annie Jankura and Troi Robinson-Moss are doing to help support AppKIDS in their fundraising efforts. Capes, spiderwebs, and batmobiles will take their mark on the starting line April 7th at 8am to protect and serve the community of Boone. This Spring, Marvel at the superheroes crawling, climbing and swooping over the Blue Ridge at the AppKIDS Superhero 5K event!

Through their involvement with the Society for Human Resource Management club at ASU, two IOHRM graduate students, Troi Robinson-Moss and Annie Jankura, have combined superpowers to support this momentous showcase of heroic honor and fortitude. The race will raise money to support Appalachian Kindness In Donations and Service (AppKIDS) to provide school supplies and clothing for local, underprivileged children.

Ms. Robinson-Moss used her Catwoman retractable claws to scratch together flyers and signs to publicize the event, and Ms. Jankura, otherwise known as Storm, has hurled a tornado of excitement for the event by representing AppKIDS at tabling events in the Plemmons Student Union. The two IOHRM students are currently working on launching the bat-signal to call all superheroes from any age or comic to participate (in the form of a banner in the student union).

The AppKIDS Superhero 5K will launch into action at the Peacock Traffic Circle, and the fundraising goal is to welcome at least 40 volunteers and 100 runners to run, walk or fly!
