Inaugural HR Summit a Success!

The inaugural HR Summit conference was held on October 11th, and was a great opportunity for current students and alumni from the IOHRM program to network and collaborate with practitioners in engaging learning sessions on important topics and emerging trends in the human resources field.

The program would like to extend utmost gratitude to the wonderful presenters! Evea Kaldas, from HD Supply, spoke about learning and development, and how to make high impact learning occur to attract and retain top talent. Bryce Woods from TIAA spoke about implementing data analytics strategies at organizations in order to answer important business questions. Joseph Lewis from AXA Equitable Life presented about invisible diversity, and the importance of language in all organizational communications, from recruitment to informal interactions, to promote diversity and inclusive culture. Finally, Melissa Reagan, from Nuveen Real Estate, talked about strategies for office configurations and locations to attract millennial talent. IOHRM faculty Drs. Shawn Bergman and Tim Ludwig provided guidance and overview of the day’s event, along with a few jokes!

Additionally, we would like to thank all corporate sponsors and partners of the event: Gallagher, SHRM Catawba Chapter, AXA Equitable Life, TIAA, Nuveen, Carolina West Wireless, and HD Supply, as well as the many individual contributors!
