First year student, Cheryl Nickel, has accepted an Organizational Development Internship with Acuity Brands, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The North American market leader and one of the world’s leading providers of lighting and building management solutions for commercial and residential applications around the world, Acuity employs over 12,000 people and reported 2016 sales of $3.3 billion.
The Company’s lighting and building management solutions vary from individual devices to intelligent network systems, while maintaining a commitment to sustainable business practices, which include reducing the organization’s electrical consumption by 36% since 2006, reducing copy paper use by 74%, implementing water reclamation and reduction processes in manufacturing and office sites, building two LEED Silver and Gold certified facilities, and achieving a net-zero landfill impact at one regional manufacturing center.
The Organizational Development Department is a relatively new addition to Acuity, and Cheryl will have the opportunity to assist in a number of areas in the growing department. Her projects will include interpreting the results of a recent Employee Engagement survey, revamping performance management systems, researching alternative compensation/benefits packages to address generational differences in what benefits are most valued, as well as helping to build processes to further develop the growing department.
