On August 24th, the Walker College of Business hosted its fourth annual Business for Good conference, a one-day event for faculty, staff and students to learn and share about sustainable business practices. Attendees heard from leaders in sustainable business practice, including Mr. John Replogle, CEO and President of Seventh Generation; Mr. Vance Merolla, Global Director of Sustainability for Colgate-Palmolive Company; Mr. Joby Carlson, Director of Sustainability for Walmart, Inc.; and Mr. Andy Acho, Former Worldwide Director of Environmental Outreach and Strategy for Ford Motor Company.
One of our own faculty members, Dr. Jim Westerman, is heavily involved in sustainable business, so our students have seen first hand the importance of this topic. There was a strong IOHRM presence in the audience (2 faculty members and 16 students), and students learned more about how we, as HR professionals, can better help businesses become and stay sustainable.
