IOHRM students partcipate with SHRM at Relay for Life

Appalachian State University’s Society for Human Resources (SHRM) chapter participated in the annual Relay for Life event held at Kidd Brewer Stadium on April 25, 2014. On the day of the event, the 14 members of “SHRM for a Cure” sponsored a booth selling baked goods, coffee, and s’mores alongside other university clubs, athletic teams, and Greek organizations.

The top SHRM fundraiser, second-year IOHRM student Amanda Eberhardt, brought the campaign to social media, posting a status on her 24th birthday offering to donate 24 cents for every ‘like’. Her status received 183 likes, bringing her personal donation to $43.92, and overall she raised $336.76 for the cause.

The “SHRM for a Cure” team raised a total of $1306.27 for the campaign, becoming the 7th highest earning team out of 73 at App State. The 73 teams raised a total of $33,268.90, making this another successful year for Relay for Life at our university. SHRM, which is led by a number of the IOHRM students, would like to express its gratitude to all faculty, students, friends, and family who contributed to the fundraising efforts this year!
