Welcome, Dr. Yalçin Açikgöz!

The IOHRM Program is happy to welcome Dr. Yalçin Açikgöz to Appalachian State! Having graduated from the IOHRM program in 2013, we are excited to welcome him back as a distinguished faculty member. Dr. Açikgöz is a Turkish national, who began his professional career in the Turkish Army as second lieutenant, after graduating from the Turkish Military Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering. He also served in various positions in the Army, including fires team, leader at mechanized brigade, a deployment in Afghanistan, and cadet team leader in the Turkish Military Academy. After completing his Masters in IOHRM at Appalachian State, he went back to Turkey where he worked as a manpower analyst in the military and simultaneously completed his Ph.D. at Middle East Technical University.

Dr. Açikgöz has a variety of research interests including employee recruitment and job search, applications of social media in human resources, and impression management in the workplace. His main research interest is on employee recruitment, and he is currently working on developing a comprehensive model of employee recruitment and job search that combines employer and employee behaviors in the pursuit of filling a position. His research interests offer exciting new opportunities for the current and future IOHRM students. Dr. Açikgöz is interested in teaching both introductory and advanced courses in the areas of job analysis and performance appraisal, staffing, research methods, and statistics.
