Second years progress on their theses

In the end of the fall 2013 semester, second years Sarah Light and Ian Head completed their thesis proposals.

Sarah's thesis, entitled "Gender Biases in the Initial Hiring Process: Perceptions of Candidates for Managerial and Non-Managerial Positions," looks at how gender bias affects the resume review stage of the hiring process. She examines how hirability, starting salary, and personality constructs (i.e. conscientiousness and competence) are perceived for identical male and female job candidates.

Ian's thesis, "How Emotional Intelligence Affects LMX Relationships," examines the predictive power of Emotional Intelligence on the quality of working relationships between a leader and subordinate.

Congratulations are also in order for the IOHRM students who recently took the Area Concentration Achievement Test (ACAT) for psychology. Every IO student who took the exam passed and are one step closer to graduation.
