Largest Ever IOHRM Class to Graduate May 12!

With only a few weeks left in the semester, it will soon be time for our second-year IOHRM students to graduate! The Class of 2017 has shown incredible talent, determination, and intellect over the past two years, and we know they will continue to grow into the future. These individuals have faced many challenges throughout their time at App State, each one contributing to their learning and preparing them for their lives beyond the program. When asked about what they will take away from the IOHRM program, the second-years had this to say:

“My two years in the IOHRM program have been some of the most challenging, yet rewarding years of my life. Not only have I expanded my knowledge base and professional resources, I have also developed some of the best relationships with the faculty and my peers that I know will last a lifetime. Being in this program has provided me with the tools I will need to become a successful individual in the field I am so passionate about.”

“The most important thing I've learned in the IOHRM program is trust. It was one of the first things I was taught as a graduate student. Trusting my cohort and my professors was one of the hardest (graduate students all have a hard time giving up control) but most rewarding lessons I ever learned. Trusting my colleagues allowed me to learn how to delegate, avoid micro-management, give and receive feedback, and build both professional and personal relationships. Although it was a lesson meant for my professional career, it is something I know I will apply to every aspect of my life moving forward.”

“Thanks to Dr. (Shawn) Bergman I have developed a passion for Stats and learned to answer every question with 'it depends.' Thanks to Dr. Ludwig I have seen the value of giving and receiving honest feedback and learned to strive for continuous improvement. Thanks to Dr. Acikgoz, Dr. (Jacqui) Bergman, Dr. Ellington, Dr. Huelsman, and Dr. Whitaker I have learned to look at every Human Resources issue through a lens that is both practical and tactical, on the one hand, and theoretical and strategic, on the other. And last but certainly not least, thanks to my AMAZING cohort I have been inspired and encouraged on a daily basis for the last two years. I will cherish the memories and friendships I have made at App for a lifetime.”

We know that every one of this year’s graduates will move on to do great things in the fields of I-O psychology and HR management, and we look forward to celebrating your many accomplishments.
