Cody Rusher Presents at the 2017 Walker College of Business Dean’s Club Research Poster Session

Cody Rusher, one of our current second year IOHRM students, had the honor of presenting at the 2017 Walker College of Business Dean’s Club Research Poster Session on October 25th. This poster sessions was funded by the Walker College of Business Dean’s Club. The Dean's Club is an annual giving society designed to benefit our students and faculty while enhancing our academic programs. The poster session included research from faculty and students in the college of business.

Cody, and his faculty mentor, Carol Kline, have been conducting research on public perception of policies directed at cattle and pigs raised for human consumption as well as laying hens. Preliminary results demonstrated a greater number of statistical significant differences due to gender, political affiliation and geographic region. Results from this study undoubtedly include ethical and moral implications regarding animal welcome, but also address issues regarding public education, agricultural industry practices, and marketing strategy. Cody’s role in this research was primarily involved in the data analysis phase and he has contributed to both the quantitative and qualitative coding processes. He also played a role in extracting larger themes from the data and was able to find some interesting results with that. In his own words, Cody said, “The most interesting part [of this research project] was definitely just seeing the spectrum of responses and reasonings. Particularly, the qualitative analysis was fascinating because there were so many layers to be pulled apart in trying to determine the psychology behind our participants’ perspectives and behavior.”

Sounds like Cody is doing some really awesome things in the Walker College of Business and has some data analytical skills up his sleeve! We are so proud of you Cody and cannot wait to see the final results of this study!
