Prospective Students Visit Our Program

This past Monday, March 30th, the IOHRM department was pleased to host its first annual Accepted Students Day. The event was held for the students who have been accepted to the program for next year. The event offered an opportunity for potential students to have any questions addressed in order to make their decision regarding the program.

This event was held from 10:00 am - 1:30 pm in the library conference room. Dr. Huelsman began the event by introducing himself, attending faculty, current attending students, and discussing the wonderful aspects of the IOHRM program. He also discussed the new curriculum that will be in place for incoming students. This introduction was followed by a student panel in which current first-year and second-year students discussed the program’s culture, coursework, what life is like in the program and in Boone, and their favorite aspects of the program. Internships and Oral Comprehensive Exams were also discussed in detail. A faculty panel answered questions about classes, research interests and research currently being done, and faculty's favorite aspects of the program. Mr. Tim Bailey, of the advisory board, spoke to potential students about the benefits of the board.

To conclude the day, attendees enjoyed lunch and a short tour of the campus. The event presented a fantastic way for incoming first-year students to gain a diverse perspective on what to expect in the IOHRM program and have any last-minute questions answered. We look forward to officially meeting the IOHRM Class of 2017!
