Alumni Tailgate

Two weeks ago the IOHRM students, faculty, alumni, and advisory board members celebrated the collaborative and supportive culture of the program during an Alumni Weekend! Friday afternoon the second-year students presented their summer internships experiences and answered questions about their responsibilities. This year, the second-year students represented the IOHRM program by traveling to six different states. They completed summer projects in staffing, compensation, learning, organizational development, performance management, and generalist roles. As illustrated by the presentations, the students added value to their respective organizations and were able to develop professional skills while utilizing the knowledge they have developed during their time at Appalachian State.

Saturday morning, the IOHRM students collaborated with faculty to host an alumni tailgate prior to the Appalachian State v. Georgia State football game. In typical tailgate fashion all attendees (which surpassed 40 people!) were able to partake in cornhole games and an awesome spread of bbq and sweet treats. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old classmates as well as meet and network with previous IOHRM students who are now amazing role models and mentors in the professional world. Thank you to everyone who attended the events on Friday and Saturday. The weekend reconfirmed why choosing IOHRM is one of the best decisions a graduate student can make. The participation of current students, faculty, alumni, and advisory board members continues to strengthen the culture and support the program has to offer.
